Just Row Your Boat!
by John McGough

Last summer our family took a short weekend trip to Chattanooga and the surrounding area. We eventually ended up spending our Sunday afternoon at a small amusement park. The interesting thing this particular day was that our girls decided that they wanted to take their own boat instead of each riding separately with a parent. The result was not successful. They were in this situation because they were constantly bickering with each other over who should be pedaling, who should be steering, and which way they should be going.

No teamwork, no synergy, no communication. Just a couple of frustrated girls in a boat at the mercy of the current...

"The Shack" Attack: Truth or Fiction?
by Pat Boone

This past month, I took the time to read a book called The Shack, by William P. Young. At first, I thought it was an amazing book, with God revealing profound wisdom for his children.

The book is written in such a way to make you think it is a true story. When reading the story, the wisdom presented seemed so simple and loving that I thought, "This is what I've been searching for!"

Assuming the story was true, it made sense that God would organize the events in the book to help his children come closer to him. After all, Jesus does say in the Bible that God would "poor out his spirit" in the last days.

Reading through the story, a couple of statements bothered me, but I thought I had misinterpreted the related Bible passages. My wife certainly wasn't impressed with the book. I dismissed that as her inability to escape reality (which she will readily admit herself)...

My Crazy World of Distractions
by Rev. James L. Snyder

The Gracious Mistress of the Parsonage and Yours Truly were having a rather lively discussion last Tuesday. I will not say I was loosing but I sure was not winning this argument. Actually, the next argument I win will be my first. I'm really looking forward to that, I can assure you.

The argument centered on the fact that I was easily distracted. The argument ran something like this; she said, "You are," and I said, "I'm not."

Along about the tenth round of the argument I lost track of what we were discussing.

"See," my wife asserted, "you're distracted right now."

When she is right, she is right.

I came across PhilRose Studios as a "Cool Link" in a forum I frequent.

Phil has a good grasp on Biblical concepts, and his talent is amazing. The comic strips are simple to understand, but really pack a punch. My favorite one is the FEAR story. Simple, and true.

BSL News: Graphic Novel

I thought those of you interested in graphic novels, or know someone who is, might like to see another story I'm working on. I've hooked up with graphic illustrator Eric Merced, who has been a Godsend (caps on purpose!). Click on the image to see a larger rendering.

John is a well-intentioned teen that took the law into his own hands in order to protect those he loves. Subsequently, he ended up in youth detention, where we catch up with him. He longs to be free from the law...or waits for when the law no longer applies.

He Sees You
by Beckie Stewart

Have you ever wondered if you were invisible? Felt as if you are unnoticed? Like no one really cared whether you were having a good day or a bad day. You just felt forgotten.

Psalm 33:18 gives the wonderful promise that as a child of God, none of those feelings are true. “Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, on those who hope for His lovingkindness.” (NASB)

The boss may pass you over for that job promotion, but the Lord rewards those who diligent seek Him. Though your circumstances are overwhelming, He hasn’t forsaken you. Everything you are going through has a purpose, and in time He will reveal His lovingkindness to you. Hold on and keep hoping. The Lord sees you.
